Illustrating Literary Intrigue

Though I absolutely do not consider myself in the ranks of "professional illustrator," I have recently painted the cover--and back cover--illustrations for Denver author Jayme Mansfield's new historical novel, Rush.  This Oklahoma land rush book is her second published title, with several more in the works --replete with literary industry awards.

Jayme is a dear friend and ardent supporter of my art, which led her to enlist me for a painterly illustration for her first book, "Chasing the Butterfly." She and her publisher deduced the artistic image assisted in the success of the book, which led to utilizing my art for the cover of "Rush." Both books have central characters who are painters, hence the painterly essence of the illustration.

This cover depicts the lead character's straw bonnet blowing across the Oklahoma plains during a pivotal, exquisitely rendered scene. I invite you to explore the work of this emerging author. "Rush" debuted yesterday on Amazon.com.
